Large Elephant Border Pattern

Large Elephant Border

Hi guys! This is an awesome border and I love that is is a larger than usual border. You can find the video tutorial for this on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-8Ag5qtwRo
Please note that if you would like to make this border smaller you can use a smaller hook and or a lighter yarn. If you would like to make it even larger you can use a larger hook and a heavier weight yarn. This is in multiples of 10.

Materials:
*5mm hook
*Any yarn of your choice. I used Red Heart Super Saver in white
*scissors
*darning needle

Abbreviations:
sl st: slip stitch
dc: double crochet
sc: single crochet
ch: chain
hdc: half double crochet

chain 2 counts as first dc. on the the top of next dc do 1 dc.
place 2 dc in the ch 2 space

you will ignore this loop for now and work around the post of the previous dc.
sc around this post and ch 2 then place 5 dc in this same space then ch 3 and sc back into the same space. this completes the first ear.
2nd Ear
you will now be working in the loop we created. place a sc then ch 2 then add 5 dc then ch 3 and sc all into the same space. You will now have what looks to be a bow or a butterfly. you will now ch 2 very loosely and sc in between the ears at the top hole.
Head

sc 1 and ch 2 then work 3 dc into this space.
trunk
ch 5 sl st back down for a total of 4 sl st
working our way down to get to the bottom of the second leg
you will now ch 1. Then you will sc into the space directly behind the trunk then ch 1 then go directly behind the head sc then ch 1. then you will ch 1 and sc in the space behind the ears. You will then ch 1 and sc into the space available at the leg and then ch 1 and then finally you will sc into the bottom of the leg. You are finished with your elephant. to start on your next one you will slip stitch 6 and repeat.
